A superb collection of 40 Jack Simcock paintings [all oil on board] dating from 1956, but mostly from his prime period 1965-75. Surely the greatest collection of his work ever formed?
Simcock is one of the gritty northern painters whose work is instantly recognisable. Very successful annual one-man exhibitions were held at the Piccadilly Gallery [Cork Street, London, W1] from 1956 to 1981 and they only stopped because he radically changed style to brightly coloured abstracts in 1981, which his devoted collectors weren't keen on.
His work is held in many museum collections including the Tate Gallery.
